BEVO’S AT BEAVERS!
After some great sessions at Darenth and Elphicks lakes, I decided to take my team of novice anglers to Beavers Fisheries at East Grinstead, to field test our very own, quality prepared, fishmeal boilies, the Dominator and Double Agent. We have been using and providing the Dominator for years but Double Agent at this time was brand new.
We, as novices, had some great results throughout our 1st year of carping, which only goes to prove that Bevos Bait provide ‘top notch’ bait and we swear by its consistency.
Double Agent is my own creation, it has secret additives and it works.
Beaver Fisheries is a fantastic complex, with nine lakes, 2 of which are specimen lakes. We chose to fish ‘The Snipe Lake’, which is 2 and half acres of beautiful water, with 2 islands close to one another, over hanging trees and lily pads. This lake holds Carp up to 45lb and Catfish up to 70lb.
Although this is a small lake, it came to me with a reputation as being a hard one to fish.
As always, the last to arrive, I chose the swim next to my fellow fisherman, Simon. On the other side was my son, Wilfred. We were only there for a 24hr fish, so baiting the lake was the 1st thing I done. I chose to bait up close to the island, amongst the reeds with Double Agent boilies. I then placed a single dumbbell on a standard bottom bait rig and casted into the baited area. My 2nd rod consisted of the same, except I added a PVA stick mix containing crushed boilies and Halibut pellet. This rod was placed into the middle of the lake.
The sun went down and it all went quiet, no-one on the lake getting a bite, but as the sun came up it started to get interesting. My 1st rod started to buzz on and off, but actually got a bite at 6.30am. After a 20 minute battle, I finally landed a 13lb 8oz common carp, it was the biggest 13lb 8oz fish I had ever seen, I had to weigh it twice.......(think its the way I hold them!)
Rod number 1 is back in place and there is more bait in the water, before I know it it’s 9.30am and it’s buzzing again. Fantastic, another 30 minute battle produces a 10lb Catfish.
It’s now 11.30am and no.2 rod is screaming across the lake. Another 40 minutes battle and I had a 25lb Catfish. Wilfred also caught a 13lb Ghost Carp.
As you can imagine I finished at the lake a very happy man.
Before we left I fired a kilo of bait into the water ready for our return a few days later.
On our return, I settled for a different swim because I saw a large fish swimming around close to the island, under the over hanging trees. I threw a handful of Double Agent dumbbells into the area. I then followed it with my rod, set up with a dumbbell on a standard bottom bait rig.
It seemed like every half an hour I was throwing in a handful of baits, almost 3 hours later, I landed a lovely 23lb Mirror. Shortly after that I had to leave......loads of work on, rolling baits for you guys...
Return visits produced a 24lb, 9lb Cat, 17lb Grass Carp and another 18lb Mirror.
My novice angler, Simon caught his PB at 31lb and Wilfred, his PB at 30lb. What a result!!! |
All in all, some fantastic fishing had by everyone, we all caught and caught well thanks to Bevos Baits.
A big thank you to Beavers, they were excellent hosts. We will be back and hopefully we will get the 40lb’s out.

So for now......‘Happy Fishing for All’.
